The resumption of biometric attendance a welcome step

The State Government's decision to resume the biometric attendance system with effect from 1 November 2020, is a welcome initiative. Due to COVID 19, somewhere in March, the biometric attendance was stopped and recourse was taken to muster rolls. However, many government servants misused the absence of biometric attendance.

I have seen staff walking in their offices at 10:30 am in place of 9:30 am. This led to delay in work and the public visiting the offices had to suffer. It is hoped that with the biometric attendance back in place, the staff will be punctual.

Cuncolim villagers are constantly faced by power outages that last for hours and disrupt normal lives. We face power outages nearly every day which has compelled most residents to resort to the purchase of inverters which is an additional expense that needs to be borne.Hope the respective power/electricity department takes notice of the woes that the residents are made to suffer and take positive action to resolve this important issue.EDLYN COUTINHO, Cuncolim
