In order to keep an eye on Revenue Officers, the Revenue Minister has spoken of installing CCTV cameras. This is a welcome idea. But to streamline and improve functioning of Revenue Offices, more proactive step is required and that is the transfer of staff. The Mamlatdars/Jt Mamlatdars and Deputy Collectors are transferred routinely, some within months. But the staff from Awal Karkuns to MTS including clerks remain stuck in offices for years. For instance, Mamlatdar Office staff in Salcete has not been transferred for ages. This gives rise to lethargy, corruption, laid back attitude of staff.
Therefore, Babush Monserrate must direct Collectors of both districts to transfer staff who have completed 3 years in any taluka with immediate effect.
