Sonsodo garbage dump has become a major issue for Margao. Sonsodo dump goes up in flames again and again. Blaming the power department or someone else is not a permanent solution. The fire comes many a time from the garbage itself because of biogas produced by fermentation of organic waste. Inside this mountain of garbage there are so many waste materials, they are going to be bad for the health, safety and environment. The people who are staying in and around are falling ill as it is difficult to breathe the air which is polluted and it smells very bad.
Time has come to clear the mountains of garbage which are present for so many years. Government comes and goes but till today the issue is not yet solved, but the mountains of Sonsodo garbage keep on increasing even after Margao Municipal office trying its level best to solve this issue. We request our new Minister for Waste Management, Margao Municipal Council, government of Goa, CM, Curtorim MLA and city fathers to sit, discuss and solve this pending issue which is effecting the health of thousands of people. Please don't play political games but work together for the love of Goa and Goans.
Konkani is official
language of Goa
In our country India , every state has its own identity, culture and the official language of their states and yes, we Goans are proud to say that Konkani is our official language of Goa. It is claimed that Konkani originated in Goa and spread into the neighbouring parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Daman and Diu etc. Konkani was recognised as the official language of Goa on January 4,1987. The first Konkani inscription is dated 1187AD.
Some of the Marathi-speaking people, especially those who have come and settled down in Goa recently are against Konkani and making a big noise, the reasons behind it are diificult to comprehend. Today Konkani is spoken among Christians, Hindus and Muslims brothers and sisters in Goa. Like the same way Marathi is the official language of Maharashtra, in Goa we have our official language Konkani. Our Goans have given their own blood for the love of Goa, Goans and for our mother tongue language Konkani. I still remember when I was a kid there was bandh everywhere in Goa, roads where closed, and we the people of Goa have won for our rights. Hats off to tiatrists, churches, Konkani newspapers, niz goenkars who have maintained till today our Goan traditional culture and mother tongue Konkani.
Wear ISI certified helmet
while riding two-wheelers
You have fooled yourself and the traffic cell enough by wearing non-ISI marked helmets which are not safe at all. I have personally seen many two-wheeler riders in the city wearing the construction industry helmets and other tortoise shell-shaped helmets which can fly out anytime. The traffic police and road transport ministry in Goa must implement a strict ban on all the helmets that don't have the ISI mark. The aim of this initiative is to protect two-wheeler riders during deadly accidents. Now be ready to pay a fine if you are not wearing an ISI-certified helmet. You may not be fortunate on the roads if you don't wear the right helmet. The manufacturing company and those selling non-ISI helmets in shops and at streetsides in Goa will be fined by the government authorities. We spend so much money for unwanted things but are careless in buying a good quality helmet which is needed everyday on roads to protect us. So be responsible citizens and follow its rules and regulations. If you are following rules and regulations, you can ride your two-wheeler without any fear of the police on the road.
