It was surprising to hear from the new Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane that in Goa we don’t have residents tigers and they are coming from Karnataka. I am a bit amused. Have these tigers informed our Forest Minister about their movement? Remember tigers, or, for that matter, any animal is free to go from one forest to another. The forest irrespective of its boundaries is the home for animals. Over the years humans have destroyed animal habitats giving rise to man-animal conflict. Rane is not an expert and he should let experts talk about the movement of animals. Also, the decision on tiger reserve is best left to forest experts and Rane cannot have his way or say on it.
