MARGAO
Responding to the plea made by the Betul coastal police, Cavelossim-based Hathi Mahal hotel on Friday handed over an outboard motor to the coastal police for surveillance of the sea and rivers under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The outboard motor was handed over to the Betul coastal police officer, PI Rajendra Prabhudesai at the hotel on Friday in the presence of police officials and hotel staff.
The outboard motor would help the Betul coastal police to resume surveillance operations after the same is fitted to the boat anchored at the Betul fishing jetty.
PI Rajendra informed that the Hotel Hathi Mahal was kind enough in accepting our request under the CSR to make available the outboard motor to the coastal police. “We can now start our surveillance operations with the help of the outboard motor once it is fitted to our canoe. Since the tourists have started to come back to Goa, it will also help in maintaining patrolling along the beach. It will also help in checking violation of fishing operations and violations by the water sports,” he said.
He added: “The boat can be used to rescue operations as well along the entire coast from Majorda to Cabo de Rama. We can check the trawlers during the season and also crack a whip on outstation vessels from Karnataka fishing in the State territorial waters.”
Hathi Mahal general manager, George Lobo told the media that the hotel has positively responded to the call under the CSR since it the responsibility of the business community to support the police.
