Unchecked waste dumping sparks anger in Sanguem - Goan Everyday - May 30, 2026. Garbage management has always been a contentious issue, a mammoth task for the authorities, whether in cities, towns or villages. ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’, we’ve learnt in our younger days, but in our country, people seem to have lost the meaning of cleanliness, and God or religion has become a sensitive issue. And the sad part is that it is not just the illiterate or uneducated class of people who don’t care about cleanliness or the environment, for that matter; it is also the so-called educated class who do not bat an eyelid while messing up a place. Needless to say, we need to get out of that mould and ensure cleanliness in our surroundings. One needs to cultivate a taste for cleanliness!
