On the Smriti Irani issue, we see the layering strategy that the BJP usually adopts. This can be understood by the fact that when a few months back a restaurant magazine reviewed the Silly Souls Bar & Rest and gave it positive reviews, the Irani family must have surely been revelling in it. Then again lately when Kunal Vijayakar, a well-known food critic, did a video review of Silly Souls commending the restaurant, it must also have been well accepted. Both reviews, that by the magazine and Kunal Vijayakar, mention that the restaurant is owned by Smriti Irani's daughter. If this needed to be clarified, should not have Smriti Irani put out a clarification then that her daughter had nothing to do with it. It is only now when Adv Aires Rodrigues, a well-known advocate and activist in Goa, brought out the fact that the bar was given a licence when no restaurant was in place which is the basic necessity in Goa and that the bar licence in the name of the original licencee was renewed recently after he had passed away, that the matter hit the roof and Smriti Irani post-haste disowned any link with the bar & rest to her daughter and/or family.
