Suicide seems to be an extreme step taken by someone who is in deep trouble, be it on account of various factors like an outstanding loan, a property dispute, or being swindled out of his hard-earned money, whether through fraudulent means by trusted people or cyber fraudsters. The death of this elderly, educated couple in Khanapur is very unfortunate. At the end of the day, precious lives are lost. It is very difficult to understand what the other person is going through, and so it is unfair to pass any judgement.
It seems that when somebody is contemplating suicide, he withdraws from society, restricts his movement outside the home, and limits his conversation with others, literally going into a shell. People in society should identify those who need help, notice changes in their behaviour, and keep watch over others without being obvious. It is indeed a delicate situation; perhaps counselling helps. Life is fragile.
