Smart City deadline looming on the horizon

Slowly and stealthily the deadline of March 31, 2025 is creeping towards the harassed citizens and authorities of the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL). Although there are kilometres of road works that remain unfinished yet, the IPSCDL has assured (as in the past few months) that everything would be completed. With some luck, the random, haphazard and repeated diggings and re-diggings of roads and pavements may come to a halt.

The citizens not only expect the completion of the pending tasks but smooth roads that would not develop sink holes and potholes and pavements free from dislodged and missing pavers. They also look forward to the clearing of jutting cables, pipes and dumped construction materials that are eye sores and hazardous to pedestrians and motorists. Hopefully, we would not be outsmarted again by the IPSCDL by extending the completion date. Let us keep our fingers and toes crossed that on April 1st, we will see a spick and span Smart Panaji. Incidentally, the date is significant “ All Fools’ Day, and we do not know what surprises are in store.
