The new Zuari bridge is already showing signs of poor quality, even though it has not completed two years. Large concrete pieces are falling onto the road, putting people’s lives at risk and damaging vehicles passing by. This is what happens when bridges and highways are built in a hurry in the name of development, without proper safety measures. Are the contractors related to central government ministers? Why was such substandard work allowed while constructing the bridge?
Will this bridge end up like those in Bihar? Now, the Minister for Highways, Roads, and Transport, along with the Chief Minister, will simply blame the contractors. To mislead the public, they will carry out patchwork repairs. The poor quality of cement mixing is a result of corruption in the system.
Just like bad roads full of potholes, now even bridges are falling apart. This reminds me of the famous English rhyme “London Bridge is falling down.” Let’s hope Goa’s Zuari and Mandovi bridges don’t collapse, putting innocent lives in danger. God save Goa and its people from corrupt politicians and contractors who risk lives for money. The bridge must be repaired immediately before the situation worsens.
