The Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited had announced that all Smart City works would be completed by 31st March this year. But with mid-March already here and temperatures soaring past 30°C (feeling like over 40°C), will the deadline be met?
It has been 10 years since the Smart City project was launched. Over the years, deadlines have been extended again and again, making life even harder for people. In areas where digging is still ongoing, residents are struggling with severe dust pollution, adding to their misery. The new sewerage system must be completed and tested before the monsoon begins, for the benefit of all.
The people of Panaji are already battling extreme heat, which feels close to 40°C. This is the result of cutting down trees and rushing towards development without considering sustainability. The suffering of Panaji’s residents should not be prolonged any further. The government must ensure that the project is completed on time. Enough is enough.
