After opening the first lane of the new Zuari bridge in 2022 now the second lane is completed and is expected to be inaugurated on December 22 at the hands of Union minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
The said bridge will be a big relief for those travelling between Panjim and Margao as it will reduce traffic congestion near Cortalim junction.
The opening of second lane of the bridge will further reduce traffic congestion.
However, the traffic flow at Verna junction and industrial estate is not smooth as one can see huge queue of vehicles near the signals. Our CM has announced plans to build flyover at Verna to reduce the congestion. Hope the same comes true.
The new Zuari bridge was the need of the hour with traffic increasing by leaps and bounds in Goa while the old Zuari bridge was not strong enough to cater the present flow of heavy weight vehicles.
The old bridge, however, will be useful for emergencies and traffic diversions if any untoward incident occurs on new bridge.
