A convict escorted to escape by a cop

Should one be surprised to read that an alleged notorious criminal of national repute and who grabbed land in Goa and was arrested after nearly 5 years, on November 12 after intensive efforts, managed to literally walk out from his cell and was royally escorted by a constable? The cop took the convict to Karnataka by bike but midway was ditched without even an adios by the convict who fled in a getaway car. The dejected constable surrendered at the Hubballi police station, brought to Goa and dismissed.  The published CCTV grab picture and the viral videos show the cop opening the cell door of the convict, both walking out and later riding off on a bike.

Luckily there were CCTVs and in working conditions but it appears that are there no personnel watching the CCTVs on an 24x7 basis in a control room, else both could have been promptly stopped. Doubts have been raised if the process was facilitated by people in the upper echelons who might have been apprehensive that the jailed canary would start reciting the names and deeds of his compatriots who were in the know of the land scams and/or were hand-in-glove. Hope the convict is caught and after a thorough probe the facts are brought to the light.
