Now the Rs 2,000 has come and gone. It will not be long before we see the Rs 1000 note make an appearance in a new avatar, maybe. There will be a sense of déjà vu then of the days before November 8, 2016 when the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 happily co-existed. But then the people will continue to think was all this at all necessary, what they called demonetisation with all its disruption and sadness that it brought along.
