Acquaint aspiring candidates with issues of climate change

Amidst the cacophony generated by the political parties making their 11th hour entry into Goa with their eyes on the prize, it is important to note that the state needs a comprehensive response to the impacts of climate change. Last year, the people of the state saw the devastation and misery caused by Cyclone Tauktae. Rampant urbanization and unplanned building caused floods and destroyed livelihoods even as people battled with the Covid. 

Climate change will also affect the backbone of Goa’s economy, tourism, if it hasn’t already, as also the lives of farmers and coastal dwellers. It’s up to the people to take up the issue with the people who hope to be elected in next year’s elections. So far, no party has made a viable statement in this regard.
