When elections are near, political parties openly violate the defacement law by putting up banners on public properties without taking permission. Irrespective of who is the violator, the authority concerned should swoop down and punish the defacers. Political parties apart, some of the casino operators too have been putting up their advertisements on electricity poles. Posters for tourism promotion have not even spared religious properties. Such posters were seen erected on the compound wall of the St Anthony’s Church in Siolim. Who is supposed to book these violators? Will the authorities please clarify?
