A popular hotel premises in Panaji in Tiswadi taluka was recently sealed by District Collector (North)and Health Officer, Urban Health centre, Panaji due to cases of Covid found at the establishment.
The question arises of other vulnerable areas in Panaji where we see much worse crowding and can also cause the spread of the disease.
The areas are well known in highly populated sites, such as Panaji market and adjoining fish and vegetable market, the cafes, Miramar beach, malls, gardens, ferry boats, private passengers buses and labour force transported in buses and open mini-trucks like sardines for high-rise building constructions in various places in Panaji, St Inez, Caranzalem, Taleigao and Dona Paula.
These are the sources for spread of virus and I feel that the government should depute vigilance officers under Disaster Management Act to apprehend those responsible for all purposes and objectives prescribed in the protocol of Covid-19 and to prevent the spread in the adjoining residential areas. If they fail to comply with the order of the Collector in violation of the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, they are liable for punishment.
