After ‘Magic Mushroom’ bust, drug menace comes to fore

The detention of the Russian national in connection with ‘Magic Mushroom’, a psychedelic drug known for altering mood, signifies a strategic effort to address drug trafficking, particularly prevalent during peak seasons in the State. This action by authorities has also brought attention to its cultivation in a rented property in Arambol.   

Notably, ‘Magic Mushroom’, or Psilocybin, is a well-known psychedelic substance that, upon ingestion, alters mood and consciousness. Consequently, individuals may enter a trance-like state, experiencing euphoria or hallucinations. They may perceive nonexistent sights or sounds, effectively immersing themselves in an alternate reality. However, the aftermath often entails prolonged headaches, stomachaches, nausea, seizures and other severe health complications.   

To counteract this harmful trend of substance abuse among youngsters and teenagers, initiatives such as educational campaigns in schools are essential. Providing students with relevant information and incorporating topics related to drug awareness into the curriculum can effectively safeguard their well-being and interests.
