Our beautiful little Goa’s position as a tourism hotspot for beaches has disgustingly or shamelessly been tarnished with alcohol - beer glass bottles dangerously smashed, plastic litter, empty food containers left on beaches and roadside pavements being turned into cooking station or resting place. Apart from this some hooligans have saved their lodging costs by sleeping on the beaches overnight until the sun rises and then wake up as early as possible to defecate on the beach and around. This does not only damage Goa's tourism image but sadly the public exchequer is forced to spend huge amounts on cleaning up after them.
I feel sorry for the local media who are proud of Goa being Goans -- although they have to be fair to report the odds too. I wonder where is law of 2019 with Goa Tourism department authorised to impose Rs 2,000 and Rs 10,000 fine on individuals and groups drinking in public places, beaches, etc. Probably the law is on paper but not applicable to these polluters nor to the tourism authority to implement.
