The decision of the government to curtail the Assembly session to only 10 days due to reasons cited as unavailability of staff due to the upcoming panchayat elections is a flimsy excuse and a pretext to shy away from the innumerable problems that plague the State.
The Assembly sessions were previously curtailed too on account of Covid-19.This decision will prove to be detrimental to the health of good governance and democracy in the State. The Assembly session provides a platform to constructively discuss various issues and leads in better policy formulations and good governance. Moreover, there is a huge amount of tax payers fund spent on the training of newly elected MLAs on codes and conduct in the assembly.
May better sense prevail and the decision to curtail the session re-reviewed.
