Authorities must enforce wearing of facemask

At the village of Adpai in Ponda, residents neglect wearing of a facemask while proceeding outside their respective houses. Many of the youth have stopped wearing it altogether. As a matter of fact, the Covid pandemic has not ended as yet and we still come across regular Covid cases in the state. In order to restrict the spread of infection pertaining to this deadly virus, it is very much essential that people wear a face mask on regular basis. The elected representatives at the local village panchayat of Adpai-Durbhat should take a serious view of this important matter and impose cash fines on persons failing to wear a face mask while proceeding along the road and also at public places. Such a step would indeed enforce some sort of discipline among the residents. Of course, precious human lives must be assured safety at all costs. Unless the matter is handled on a war footing, it will be extremely difficult to bring the existing dangerous situation under firm control. The Directorate of Panchayats should issue a fresh circular to all the village panchayats in the state thereby instructing them to enforce the above rule compulsorily. Panchayats failing to oblige to this criteria should not be spared but taken to task at once without any discrimination.
