It is a known fact that during the monsoon from June to September every year, all the beaches in the state are closed for the public for entering into the water or for swimming as the sea and all the rivers including the waterfall areas get flooded. It must be said that during the monsoon the waterfalls become an attraction for the tourists as well as the locals. The gushing water is a sight to behold. However many of the visitors could be entering the water at the base of the waterfall for a bath which could prove very dangerous. There have been several incidents of drowning reported at various waterfalls including the Harvalem waterfall. It is pertinent to note that there are no lifeguards posted at the waterfalls. Hence there need to be signboards cautioning the visitors not to enter the water. There could even be a sudden gush of a large amount of water from the waterfall which could prove very dangerous. During the monsoon season the waterfalls should be visited only for sight-seeing. There needs to be a total ban on bathing and swimming at the waterfalls during the monsoon.
