This refers to ''Beach Vigil App' to focus on violations (TGE, Jan 26). Obviously, it's a great initiative as beach atrocities are increasing in Goa. It is learnt that the time duration to resolve beach-related issues will be 2 hours, from the accurate time of the complaint, except for cases registered from 6 pm and 8 am. Hopefully, this will bring down the adverse effects of alcohol abuse that is frequently happening on the beaches. Henceforth, the beach won't get littered everywhere with broken pieces of bottles. Moreover, surprise visits of turtles during the nesting season will definitely receive quick attention and prompt help.
Furthermore, we have several hawkers who create a nuisance for tourists on the beaches across Goa. Timely complaints on the said app can save tourists, especially foreigners, from such type of nightmarish experiences. If anyone is drunk and ventures into the sea, then it can be traced by someone present at the venue and do the needful on the said app.
The app should be promoted zealously for its use by the general public through advertisements in the print and visual media. However, tourists can be educated regarding the same through notice boards or hoardings installed at airports/hotels and other locations frequented by them. Definitely, such innovative schemes will empower the tourism industry and bring back its lost glory.
