St Inez nullah: A foul stain on capital's heart

On my daily exercise routine recently, I happened to reach St Inez area in the capital. To my disgust, I felt vomiting with the smell and odour of filth emanating from a nullah. The water beneath the bridge was so bad that I decided never to come to this area again due to the stinking, muddy water where I could see a coconut tree lying in the drain.

Habitats of fish and reptiles are dying in this dirty water which serves as a warning to the authorities to clean up this area. However, nobody is interested in saving these habitats because their future is of little consequence. Yet, I hold onto hope on this Republic Day. Perhaps exposure in print will stir the public if the powers that be have already abdicated their responsibility.
