The State Government runs a popular scheme called the Voluntarily Retirement Scheme or VRS for it's employees covered under CCS Pension Rules and which allow them to retire from service voluntarily at any time after completing 15 years of qualifying service as per Office Memorandum No. 12-1-89-Fin (R&C) dated 29-11-1989. Employees retiring on such a scheme are given, proportionate gratuity and pension. Now, why such a scheme has still not been started for our politicians who have already completed 15 years in active politics and to allow them to take voluntary retirement on the above similar lines to give a chance for some young politicians to contest elections in their place for the betterment of Goa's future? Well, the State government needs to give a serious thought over this matter and start a VRS scheme for all its politicians who have already played their innings for 15 years like big star batsmen to allow them to retire from politics voluntarily on the lines of all the government employees for the betterment of Goa's future.
