The recently tarred area around the Benaulim panchayat ghar has given up its ghost with the first spell of rain. The whole surface has sunk and the hard resembles a swimming pool now.
Stagnant water has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects. The building houses a post office, a farmer co-operative milk outlet, a vet's clinic besides the panchayat office.
To add to the trash around there is a defunct garbage bailing machine which has rusted away to glory over the past 3 years.
The area has become a public health hazard. Would the authorities and the local MLA do something to improve the conditions or is that asking for too much?
