Our elected representatives MLAs and other public institutions swear an oath of allegiance to the Constitution of India, and to uphold its provisions, which specifically include the integrity of the nation and equality of all its citizens despite caste, creed, gender or origin. Any violations of these provisions by ordinary citizens also constitutes an offence under criminal law. Any failure to take prompt and effective action against violations of the provisions will lead to disintegration of our great nation which is known for unity in diversity and for this the nation is neighbour's envy and owner's pride, like neighbouring Pakistan,Yugoslavia and now Bangladesh. We must all realise this threat perception and ensure that any attempt to foment discord among our fellow citizens is nipped in the bud, before it is too late.
