Bill to regularise illegal houses won't help Goans

The Pramod Sawant led BJP government has finally passed (despite strong protests from opposition members) the Goa Regularization of Unauthorised Construction (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the just concluded assembly session with the sole intention of regularising all illegal houses and structures built on comunidade land before February 28, 2014. Well, this controversial bill has been passed not to help Goans (as being claimed by CM Pramod Sawant and some ministers from the ruling side) but to turn all the neighbouring migrant settlers into permanent residents of our state by finally regularising their illegal houses and structures on comunidade land without the approval of the comunidade general bodies in Goa. The Portuguese rulers never gifted even a inch of our land for all the neighbouring migrants and neither they allowed anyone to contruct their illegal houses/structures on comunidade land. Unfortunately, today our own elected leaders are seen auctioning, selling every piece of land for all the neighbouring outsiders for the sake of money. Well, the reason why the BJP government has gone a step ahead and decided to gift the comunidade land for all outsiders by passing the above controversial anti-Goan bill is because it wants to desperately build its own permanent vote-bank.
