Calangute power supply issue is inhumane

The electric supply to Calangute can imaginatively be described as ‘psychedelic lighting’ as it comes and goes at regular intervals. The electric fans likewise go fast and slow every now and then due to voltage fluctuation. Being a regular visitor to Goa I have a small fridge without auto-defrost system. However, in Calangute I do not need to defrost it manually as it is in a perpetual auto-defrost mode,  thanks to the erratic electric supply.

The locals have to grin and bear it. I pity the poor school children who have to study in sweltering heat, often under candle light in a room swarming with mosquitoes! In this modern age this is simply inhumane.

The condition get exacerbated  as the heat increases when more and more ACs are switched on, in the mushrooming hotels ,big and small. Before giving new licenses to hotels, the authorities must ensure that  the electric supply is capable of taking on the extra load. Else the locals will suffer.
