Changing the face of green Goa to black Goa

The Goa government in tandem with the Centre is all out to finish the ecology of the State by rampant destruction of the fragile ecosystem by steamrolling undesirable contentious projects against the wishes of the people who are up in arms confronting the local authorities. But the government is adamant and does not even care for the Supreme Court strictures advising them to keep on hold the disputed ongoing projects which are not people centric.  After bulldozing its way in pursuing the three contentious linear projects, cutting the green hills, diversion of Mhadei water, the Government has embarked on pursuing an estuarine project  by usurping  53 kms of Goa's 105 kms coastline and handing it over to Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), by an instrument of Major Ports Authorities Bill (MPAB). Needless to mention that all the projects are linked to the movement of coal.  MPT has already achieved the notoreity of being the coal hub to be used as transit point for supplies to Karnataka and Maharashtra.  All the efforts spearheaded by mainstream media and supported by environmentalists, social activists and the public at large to protect the ecology and environment have gone in vain as both the double-engine governments at the Centre and State bulldoze all protests and pursue their destructive agenda to change the face of green Goa into black Goa. Since the current dispensation of MLAs and CM are not serving the interests of Goans, it is high time that the people change their 'susegad' mentality and enmasse hit the streets in an 'andolan' to teach these erring political class a lesson in business management as Goa is on the verge of extinction and there will be nothing left  for generations to come.
