Many restaurants across the coastal belt in the State have made secret provisions with underground piping to release sewage directly into the sea.
If I was a tourist visiting Goa, I would be extremely disgusted spending time on the beach or swimming in the adjacent sea if I was to know such filth was dumped in the proximity.
The State government is marketing Goa as a tourist destination in countries abroad. It has also made its intention clear to attract high-end tourists to the State.
Can garbage on the roadside and sewage release in the sea help attract high-end tourists? Are there no government departments to keep a check and punish the culprits?
It is high time the government cracks the whip on these activities if it wants Goa tourism to flourish.
