Only a month back the work of beautification of the entire CHOGM road, consisting of repair and hot-mixing was inaugurated by the local MLA with much fanfare, starting from the Saligao end. The entire work is expected to be completed by November end, after which CHOGM road would be transformed into one of the best roads in Goa as the main link to the Calangute-Candolim coastal belt. Unfortunately, as of today, there are no visible signs of any repair work on the entire stretch from O’Coqueiro circle in Porvorim onwards. The road is in a terrible state and proving to be dangerous to motorists and pedestrians, as pot holes are deepening and craters widening. It is a pity that those undertaking the work have got their priorities wrong by starting from the wrong end. Secondly, going by the new technology adopted on our national highways and motorways which are completed at the rate of 38 km per day, the work on CHOGM road should have been completed by now.
