The entire stretch of Chogm road in Porvorim from O’coqueiro circle onwards has now become an accident-prone zone after the completion of the road repairs and hot mixing. Being a link road to the tourist resorts in the Calangute-Candolim coastal belt, there is very heavy movement of tourist vehicles on the road. After the road repairs, motorists are now seen driving at high speeds, often cutting lanes and overtaking, making it very dangerous for driving. Secondly, in the absence of road dividers, residents of the area find it very difficult to get to the other side of the road without the fear and danger of being knocked down. Earlier, there were a few metal dividers that proved to be a boon to the residents and pedestrians. These were subsequently removed by the RTO and never replaced. Will the RTO then please take note of this urgent requirement and arrange to provide a few permanent road dividers to facilitate smooth and safe driving as well as safety for pedestrians.
