Cong MLAs lacking the fighting spirit

It is a shame to read that a ruling MLA has flouted his own government’s Covid SOPs and Section 144 by hosting a massive birthday party.

The public in no time took to social media to criticise the same, but the Congress behaved just like powerless netizens and ‘demanded’ that North Goa Collector file cases.

Last year, when there were lockdowns, photos of rave parties and other parties violating the SOPs had flooded the media. Tourists too crowded public spaces flouting all SOPs. Yet, in the Assembly, a written statement was given that ‘during the festivities in Goa, no reports of any Covid SOP violations were received’. Why did the Congress not take up the matter? ‘Merely’ asking the Collector file cases will not help. What stops them from going to Court?

Congress has also demanded to know from the current Lokayukta as to how the incumbent will provide justice to the people in view of the toothless Goa Lokayukta Act. The irony here is that the Congress is as toothless as the Lokayukta!
