The Goa Police should be congratulated for finally cracking down on drunken driving very seriously this time as part of a special drive in the state and for rightly penalising those who are still found drinking & driving dangerously in different parts of Goa.
Unfortunately, some people instead of appreciating the efforts of our Goa Police are currently heard grumbling and still blaming the poor condition of roads, non-functioning street lights, no proper signals, etc for most road accidents in Goa.
Well, in a way what they are saying on the above mentioned topic is partly true but I still do believe that 95% of the road accidents occur in the state mostly due to drunken driving and also because of the free availability of alcohol every few metres throughout the state of Goa
In fact, I feel that some even go for weddings, private lunch/dinner get together parties etc today not to have a descent buffet meal or to spend some special moments with their close friends/loved ones but only to get high on alcohol and to act/behave like those roadside rowdies in Goa.
I therefore personally feel that the cops from the traffic cell, ignoring the views of all the drunkards should continue with their current drive of cracking down on drunken driving by extending it for full 24 hours and severely penalising all those who are still found habitually drinking & dangerously driving in the state to permanently make our roads 100% safer in the near future in Goa.
