The Goa Pradesh Congress committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has reportedly said that the so-called "pre-poll alliance" if any (with natural allies like the Nationalist Congress Party and Goa Forward Party) will be decided by the high command and that his main focus is on strengthening the organization in all the 40 constituencies of Goa. Well, this sounds like a good decision because most anti-BJP voters (especially from Salcette and South Goa) as usual will once again vote only for Congress candidates in the upcoming assembly elections.
The reason behind this is because the anti-BJP voters know that most candidates of small-time national/ regional parties will come in the fray only to split the secular votes and help the BJP in Goa.
The Congress leaders should therefore stick to their word, put up some popular strong candidates, decide to forge no pre-poll alliance and seriously also tell their candidates to compulsorily give a signed written undertaking to every voter in the state before elections saying that under no circumstances will they ever join rival parties after getting elected.
