Constitution & reservation flavour of the ballot

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA achieved a decisive victory in the Hindi heartland. However, replicating that success in the upcoming elections won't be easy. Consequently, the BJP is aiming to secure more seats in the South and West Bengal.

Socio-economic polarization provides the BJP with an advantage in North Indian states. Yet, rural voters in many of these regions are dissatisfied with the party.

There is a widespread belief that the BJP might eventually eliminate caste-based reservations. Some BJP leaders, during their campaigns, suggested that if the party wins over 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, they would strengthen Hindutva only if Hindus remain united and not divided by caste.

The BJP is aware that a caste census could raise awareness among marginalized communities, potentially jeopardizing their future plans. Therefore, the BJP is likely to continue opposing such a census.
