Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo must be congratulated for criticising the recent statement of CM Pramod Sawant on religious conversions and for rightly accusing him of trying to polarise Goans sowing the seeds of hatred by raising such most sensitive religious issues.
Goans (irrespective of caste, creed and religion) have historically lived peacefully in communal harmony as civilised human beings in this state for the last so many years using our own common sense/brains and not by relying on the lies and rumours.
Our Constitution clearly gives our citizens a fundamental birth right to practice, propagate and to choose the religion of one's own free choice in a democratic country like India.
I therefore personally feel that as long as this right is fully guaranteed in the Constitution, Sawant should instead learn to tackle real issues of poverty, unemployment, corruption, inflation etc.
