The Goa police has been handing out clean chits to the politicians in the jobs for cash scam even without proper investigations or questioning of the accused. Dozens of 'queenpins' have been arrested on charges of collecting crores of rupees from gullible Goans promising them much sought after 'sarkari' jobs, not surprisingly one of the accused was a BJP office bearer till very recently. Civil society and the opposition have been demanding an independent probe by an SIT but to no avail. The DGP and the SP (South) of Goa police have been addressing press conferences and categorically stating that no links to netas have been uncovered and that no decision on constituting an SIT has been taken so far. This even after 29 cases have been registered pertaining to the scam, the name of an influential minister is doing the rounds and there is an alleged audio clip on social media of a powerful ruling party MLA talking money for providing jobs. It is very clear that the government is so compromised and the state of affairs so rotten that the law enforcers are being arm-twisted to hand out certificates of innocence to the netas.
