A group of eight police personnel who had got together for a dinner party to celebrate 'Gatari' to indulge in unlimited booze ahead of the Shravan month recently have been reportedly suspended for allegedly refusing to pay their Rs 8,000 bill after gorging on a spread of prawn/chicken starters and alcoholic drinks, causing a ruckus and threatening the staff of an upmarket restaurant at Sangolda, based on a complaint filed by its owner along with the CCTV footage of the said incident.
Unfortunately, no FIRs have been filed as yet. The cops of today are indeed seen misusing their khaki uniform posing like big 'Singhams' and enjoying their own 'ache din' by habitually flexing their muscles against all the soft targets on a regular basis in different parts of Goa. In fact, today they are seen extorting money from those selling drugs, those running prostitution centres, harassing young couples roaming on beaches and blackmailing married women on flimsy grounds. I feel that the higher officers of the Goa Police Department should dismiss such rogue cops from their services permanently.
