Cricket is one of the most popular games in lndia, areligion to many fans. However, they should bear in mind is that cricket is ateam game and only one team can win on any given day. While it is quite normalfor the supporters to be disappointed at the defeat of their favourite team andalso criticise the performance of the players, resorting to violent trollingand abuse of players; wives who have nothing to do with cricket is not theright thing. Not only wives, the hate now seems to be spreading to theirinnocent children.
The latest disturbing incident is the trolling of M SDhoni after CSK team lost a match in the ongoing IPL. While many did so, sometweets and Facebook posts threatened physical harm to and rape of Dhoni's6-year-old daughter. The language and expletives used are unprintable. This isdefinitely crossing the line and cannot be tolerated. At a time when our nationis grappling with the issue of rape and violence against women, such threatscannot be taken lightly. These elements should be hunted down and punishedseverely. The time to treat them with kid gloves is over.
