Medical professionals must restrict themselves to the subject that they are well-versed with. Can an oncologist offer advice in gynecology?
Coronavirus is an infectious disease and steps to control the same must come from specialists. Does the Task Force in Goa and the Centre have such a specialist on board?
Recently, it was reported that a professor studying infectious diseases and epidemiology had used various models to conclude that vaccinating children is key to herd immunity. It must be noted that the CDC has also stated the Delta variant is so infectious that it can spread like chickenpox.
In Goa, a medical cell, headed by an oncologist had demanded opening up tourism saying that lockdowns and curfews were useless! He also made a case for reopening schools a fortnight after Chaturthi.
Making senseless statements does not augur well for professionals who are not well-versed with the subject.
We all know that the present curfew is surely helping the State to keep a check on the virus. Opening schools without vaccinating students will be a rash decision. That is why we must have the right person in the right job.
Herd immunity is the key, not herd mentality.
