The Panjim Police on Monday has filed a 1,371 - page chargesheet against prime accused Zenito Cardozo and seven others in the high-profile Rama Kankonkar attempt-to-murder case. The chargesheet submitted to the North Goa District and Sessions Court, is based on statements recorded from 49 witnesses and includes 32 muddemal articles. SP North Goa Rahul Gupta while confirming the development has said that during the investigation, accused Francis Nadar revealed that he and his associates assaulted Rama Kankonkar with cable wires and smeared cow dung on his face, as part of a conspiracy hatched due to personal grudge and online mockery. The plan was coordinated by Zenito Cardozo, who tracked Rama’s movement and communicated via WhatsApp, says the chargesheet. It is common knowledge that Zenito Cardozo is a right-hand man of a minister from the cabinet and who could have instructed his gang members at the behest of the same politician to carry out that brutal attack at Caranzalem. Anyway, this chargesheet itself clearly shows that the Panjim Police as expectedly has finally turned this case into a small local personal rivalry case to somehow shield the mastermind involved. Shame on depriving justice for activist Rama Kankonkar.
