With the state elections scheduled early next year, the development mantra and freebies have started flowing in full swing. Launching of hot-mixing and broadening of roads, which were hitherto neglected, inauguration of new schemes, planting of trees, etc have become common these days. In the days to come, don’t be surprised if prices of petrol, gas and other essential items come spiraling down just to create a feel-good factor among the electorate. People have suffered enough due to the pandemic. Many of them are miserable due to job losses. Sops like free water and subsidised electricity should have been given earlier to ease their burden. The crime rate has reached its peak in the state with robberies, rapes, murders becoming daily features. Now is the time for the electorate to elect hardworking and loyal candidates for the next five years to give us good and corruption-free stable governance which is sadly lacking at the moment.
