Govt needs to introspect on archaic laws

It is highly deplorable that we still continue to have certain outdated provisions and laws left behind by the British. The relevance of these in present-day India is undoubtedly questionable. So far, the BJP government has repealed 1,200 obsolete and archaic laws, which are redundant. This is appreciable as this has certainly disarmed certain people, who, for sheer publicity, filed complaints without substance or relevance. But of late, sedition cases are causing great concern among the general public. The cases have evoked evoke debates on whether such actions are appropriate. It’s time for the government to introspect.
