CANACONA
Goa Forward Party supremo Vijai Sardesai has threatened drastic action against the Directorate of Social Welfare (DSW) if forms to provide Rs 5,000 to the unorganised sector are not given to him.
Addressing a gathering in Canacona, Sardessai accused the government of fooling people, especially during election time.
“It has become their practice to announce 10,000 jobs to be filled three months before every elections and this has been happening since 2014,” said Sardesai
“Now, the latest is that they have come up with forms for a scheme to distribute Rs 5,000 to the unorganised sector as part of the pandemic stimulus package. But people don't get these forms and even I as MLA don't have them (forms).”
“The other day, I warned the Director of Social Welfare (DSW) that if forms did not reach me, there would be drastic consequences and the government can take action if it wants.”
“We may also need to go to High Court and petition them as government money is not reaching the people,” added Sardesai.
Meanwhile, a social activist Vikas Bhagat clarified to The Goan that he had neither joined the Goa Forward Party nor was he inducted into the party on Saturday.
“I am involved in activities of around 7 NGOs and I had only shared the stage with Goa Forward supremo Vijai Sardesai, to express my views against the government on various social and environmental issues,” said Bhagat.
“I will, however, continue to expose the BJP government and I may even share the Congress stage in future, but does not mean I have joined the Congress,” said Bhagat.
