The Government needs to act expeditiously against that outrageous bungalow belonging to BJP national spokesperson Shaina NC which has come up within the heritage precincts at Old Goa. The battle to safeguard our heritage area has to be a people’s movement. No political party should try to extract political mileage at least on this issue. Although it good to see Adv Amit Palekar of AAP on a fast unto death, we must not avoid looking into his political motivation and looking at his past. On 14th October 2018, we were all aghast to see him leading a group of then IT Minister Rohan Khaunte’s henchmen who had come to disrupt a meeting of villagers at the Chimbel lake who were opposed to the IT Park which was sought to be set up there at the cost of a lake, fruit-bearing trees and environment. Can we trust him now to be genuinely committed to the cause dear to Goans?
