Don’t turn Diwali into a festival of noise

Our Goan youngsters in the past used to make simple Narkasur effigies on the eve of Diwali in their close neighbourhood, go to play and dance on the beat of their traditional percussion instruments like 'dhol', 'taashe' etc until midnight and later burn these effigies early morning on Diwali day without creating much of a  disturbance for others.

Unfortunately, some youngsters are seen today making their huge giant sized Narkasur effigies everywhere, lighting up (despite SC's ban on polluting firecrackers and noise pollution) noisy polluting fireworks and disturbing others on the eve of Diwali (especially senior citizens) every year by blasting loud window-shattering music the whole night until the wee hours of Diwali day.

Why can't these youngsters celebrate such unique festivals peacefully without lighting up those polluting fireworks, without playing loud blaring music and without disturbing the peace of others?

Its time these youngsters stop this madness of disturbing others the whole night during such major festivals by dancing on loud music.

Instead they should learn to celebrate all such festivals in a more civilised manner without disturbing the peace of others to really maintain the uniqueness and originality of all other festivals in Goa.

They should not turn this festival of lights called 'Diwali' into a festival of noise and air pollution in Goa.
