DTE responsible for mess over WFH instructions

With reference to the news regarding staff being told to join duties at Agnel Institute of Technology and Design, Assagao ( April 30) and the subsequent clarification released by the college (May 4), it is very clear that neither the University nor the college is at fault. The entire responsibility for this mess lies with the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). On April 26, the three arms of education in Goa, Directorate of Education, Directorate of Higher Education and Goa University released notice to the schools/colleges under their control informing them to work from home (WFH) in view of spiralling Covid-19 cases. Five polytechnics and seven professional colleges under DTE were eagerly waiting for similar WHF directions. Till date no such notice is issued by DTE for them. This forced the said college to call back their staff to work from May 3. Has the Education Minister and Secretary-Education lost control on the affairs of DTE? Does the government want only the technical education staff to be affected by the second wave of Covid?
