Recently cases/PILs were filed by an activist to challenge the Goa government’s highly controversial Mhaje Ghar Scheme, which has the intention to legalize illegalities (encroachments/houses). As per my understanding, Supreme Court orders are clear as to not entertain any illegalities /encroachments. So, with such SC orders already in place and also High Courts own orders to address illegalities (which should be in contempt status now as Goa ministers have done nothing), I wonder why the High Court has given a date 3 months away in February 2026? Could an earlier date not be given by the courts on such an important matter ? In the meantime the Goa BJP government will be given the benefit of extracting maximum political mileage. In India it is common knowledge that justice moves at such a slow pace which is very unfortunate.
